What parts of the brain are most affected by trauma?

Mini Quiz Time!

There are various symptoms that make Trauma look like many other conditions, such as Borderline, ADHD/ADD, Autism, Bipolar, and Oppositional Defiance.

Why does this happen? Because “Survival Mode” affects parts of the brain such as the Prefrontal Cortex, Hippocampus, and Amygdala. It pulls blood away from The PFC & Hippocampus making it so these parts that are responsible for memory, executive functioning, big picture thinking, relational skills, emotional regulation and positive emotions can’t function optimally because they are literally NOT BEING FED.

The blood ends up being shunted to the Amygdala, feeding the part of the brain responsible for fight, flight, or freeze, impulsivity and reactivity. There will be multiple symptoms that look like essentially everything at once. A good indicator that Trauma maybe the core issue is when there are multiple diagnosis and providers can’t seem to decide which fits better.
